It’s the Sandwell & Birmingham Mela this Sunday (26 July) in Victoria Park, Smethwick. Our officers will be there to keep you safe. We’ve been working with the mela organisers together with Sandwell Council, the fire and ambulance services and other partners on the safety and security plans for the UK’s biggest South Asian music festival. This year's event starts at midday and is set to attract 50,000 people.
Council officers will be out enforcing parking restrictions and rules around selling goods on the street, while we will be supporting event security and patrolling the surrounding streets.
